What it is
A single set covering six centuries of case law.
Published between 1900 and 1932, The English Reports brought together the most significant "nominate reports" — case reports named after the individual barristers and reporters who originally compiled them — into one consistent, citable 176-volume set. It covers English case law from 1220 through to 1866, just before the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting began publishing the modern Law Reports. Two further volumes form a comprehensive Index of Cases, bringing a full set to 178 volumes.

Completeness of the run
A full 176-volume set is a significant, complete historical reference in its own right. Partial runs are still genuinely worth having valued, but completeness is the single biggest driver of value for this particular set.
The index volumes
The two-volume Index of Cases makes a set considerably more usable, and we factor that in. A set without them is still worth an enquiry.
Condition
Given the age of this set, some wear is expected and priced in as normal. Water damage and mould are what genuinely affect the figure, not decades-old shelf wear.
