This includes the earlier All England Reports Reprint, which covers cases from 1558 to 1935, as well as the main series that followed it. About the set
A staple of every chambers library.
The All England Law Reports (All ER) have reported judgments from the Supreme Court (formerly the House of Lords), the Privy Council, the Court of Appeal, and the High Court since 1936. Published by LexisNexis (formerly Butterworths), they've long been a commercial alternative to the official Law Reports produced by the Incorporated Council of Law Reporting. Four bound volumes have typically appeared each year, so a long-held chambers set can easily run past a hundred volumes.

What affects value
Three things we look at.
Continuity of run
An unbroken run of years is worth more than the same number of volumes with gaps — but gaps aren't a dealbreaker.
Companion volumes
Consolidated Tables and Index volumes add a little to the value when included, but their absence won't stop us buying.
Condition
Sound bindings and clean pages matter more than perfection. Ordinary chambers wear is expected, and priced in.

About selling your All ER set
Do you buy the All England Reports Reprint (1558-1935), or only the main series?
Both. The Reprint covers the earlier period before the main series began in 1936 — if you have volumes from either, or both sitting together, we'll value the whole shelf.
Do you need a complete run back to 1936?
No. We buy full runs and partial ones — even a ten-year run is worth having valued.
Do you buy the All ER Commercial Cases or European Cases series too?
Yes, along with the All ER Reprints covering older cases back to 1558.
What about the Consolidated Tables and Index volumes?
Include them if you have them — they add a little to the value of the set, but their absence isn't a dealbreaker.
